A Surry Hills two-bedroom unit has sold for a massive $2.65 million this morning at the off-the-plan launch of a new development called Calibre.
Buyers have been flocking into CBRE agent Ben Stewart’s launch in Cooper St Saturday morning and by 10am he had sold 13 of the 18 units available.
The purchase of the two-bedroom 90 sqm unit, which came with a 20 sqm north-facing balcony, was a woman who lived locally.
“But we’re even getting older owner-occupier buyers coming from places like Mosman,” Mr Stewart said.
Surry Hills is a bit like Potts Point … they’re loving the inner-city vibe and the access to all the good cafes and restaurants.”
Another thing buyers were loving was the design by Koichi Takada Architects, which the blurb suggests is the “most talked about and influential architects in practice today”.
“It is a very exclusive looking building,” Mr Stewart said
He said almost all of the buyers were owner-occupiers, with investors just snapping up some of the studios priced at $860,000.
These are expected to rent for between $700 and $800 a week.
A one-bedroom unit with media room sold for $1.3 million, without parking.
But Mr Stewart said the 335 sqm penthouse — with its own rooftop pool — was still available at more than $6 million.
