TOP 50 ROOMS

From kitchens and bathrooms beyond the ordinary to inspiring living areas and home offices, here are some of the best rooms created by Australia’s leading interior designers and architects.

Waterfront Retreat’s open plan living, dining and bar area in a house designed for Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall, sits amongst the high calibre of rooms.

Koichi Takada says of his design for this space:

“We originally designed this house for Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall, with consideration of their growing family in mind.

We chose this living space because this is the heart of the house – an ‘in-between’ place where our clients spend most of their time. It is unique because this living room is neither indoor nor outdoors. With Sydney’s moderate climate, Australian’s love celebrating an enviable outdoor lifestyle. This space was designed around a bar and outdoor pizza oven and creates the perfect focus to spend time with close family and friends. You could also say that this type of space blurs the inside and out. It is an evolution of our traditional “veranda” concept but updated for our contemporary lifestyle, the envy of the world.”
