The design of Jiwan Restaurant, located on the fourth floor at the top of the National Museum of Qatar, reflects the stunning panoramic views over the aquamarine water of Doha Bay. Awarded the region's 'Most Beautiful Restaurant in the World' 2023 by Prix Versailles, the design is conscious to align with the cuisine of Michelin star French restaurateur Alain Ducasse, which also expresses Qatar’s unique culture and history.
With interiors inspired by what the pearl represents in Qatar’s history, Jiwan is named after the Qatari word for the “perfect pearl” and the ceilings are adorned with more than 4,000,000 Swarovski crystals that shimmer with the gentle breeze, making this the most exceptional way to experience Doha’s history, culture and cuisine.
The unique Qatari geography – 'Khor Al Adaid' – where the sea comes deep into the heart of the desert is brought to life in Jiwan and the bespoke carpet fades from the colour of the desert sand to the light turquoise water, whereas the heart of the restaurant turns into the deepest aquamarine blue.
The restaurant also complements French architect Jean Nouvel’s overarching vision for the National Museum of Qatar and the other interior spaces designed by Koichi Takada Architects, which include the museum’s internationally acclaimed Gift Shops.
